The Ceilidh Trail School of Celtic Music Courses
Student Guideline of Fiddle Ability:
| Level 1 |
Appropriate for advanced and master musicians, and those that feel somewhere between intermediate and advanced. Have played over five (5) years in Cape Breton music and can read music well or can play quickly by ear. Looking for technique, stylizations and direct improvement in problem areas of playing Cape Breton music and more advanced/complicated tunes. |
| Level 2 |
Appropriate for intermediate musicians and those that feel they are well versed in other types of music but have played Cape Breton/Scottish music for less than five (5) years; or have been playing Cape Breton music for more than five years but need more instruction/support in critical areas. Can read music or learn by ear fairly quickly. |

Student Guideline of Cape Breton Guitar Accompaniment Ability For Intermediate to Advanced:
This class is for those guitar students who are fairly well versed in their instrument, can read music and/or learn quickly by ear and chord charts. Some ability in chording to other styles is helpful.
Note from Instructor:
Class Recommendations:
I will be concentrating on accompaniment techniques, the students would need a knowledge of their basic 1st position chords, and preferably have had some experience in playing situations. Reading music or tab is not necessary but certainly would be an asset. I will be giving them charts (notes) to read but in most cases we will be concentrating on the chords and strumming exercises.
At the end of the week the students will play at least 1 set of tunes or more depending on their level, for an audience and as well join the fiddle ensemble as a group accompaniment. I try as much as possible to have the guitarists experience playing with the fiddlers directly.
